3D Fiber Optic Vibration Sensor
In this paper, various technologies of distributed fiber-optic vibration sensing are reviewed, from interferometric sensing technology, such as Sagnac, Mach–Zehnder, and Michelson, to backscattering-based sensing technology, such as phase-sensitive optical time domain. The fiber optic sensing technology provides data support in structural health monitoring of the macro facilities, including design, construction, and maintenance of bridges, tunnels, ports and other infrastructures. The 3D-Fiber from the SMART series allows precise, non-contact vibration measurements in three dimensions using a single device that integrates multiple functionalities.
