What fiber optic connectors are available in Cuba
Looking at the map of undersea cables, you can see that four fiber optic cables are currently touching Cuban soil: Arimao (which connects the island to Martinique), ALBA-1, and anoter two that belong to the US Government and connect the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base with Florida. A fiber optic connector is a mechanical device used to align and join optical fibers, enabling light to pass through with minimal loss. While Cuba is located in one of the areas with the highest density of submarine fiber optic cables, it has problems accessing the Internet, as most of its connections come via satellites. This 2,470-kilometer cable connects the province of Cienfuegos in Cuba with Martinique and was installed by Orange Marine, a subsidiary of the multinational Orange S.
