This White Paper has been prepared by the Global Energy Interconnection project team, in the IEC Market Strategy Board (MSB), with major contributions from the project partner, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the project leader, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). Global energy interconnection (GEI) represents the ultimate evolution of the trend towards greater interconnection of power systems. The proposal is an eighteen-line backbone of ultra high voltage connections to link 80 countries in networks incorporating smart-grid technology and significant renewable energy sources. Achieving SDG 7 on energy, with its three targets on universal access, energy efficiency and renewable energy, will open a new world of opportunity for. Its essence is "Smart Grid + UHV + Clean Energy" with strong economic competitiveness. Technically, the advanced and mature technology in UHV with lower loss and less land occupation.

The CLSG Interconnection Project, which connects Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, is a major step toward integrating with the West African Power Pool (WAPP), improving cross-border electricity trade and grid stability. Sierra Leone has high rainfall (2,500mm/year) for hydro, viable wind speeds, and strong solar exposure—ideal for renewables. The government restructured the sector in 2015, unbundling the National Power Authority into the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) and the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), under the regulatory oversight of the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission. This Compact presents a strategic framework to accelerate access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, targeting 78% national electricity access by 2030 while enabling inclusive economic g tion has access to electricity. Low-loss optical modules 2025 model

We introduce low optical loss and highly uniform passive silicon nitride optical building blocks including straight waveguides, bends, tapers, 1-by-2 MMI, silicon nitride-to-silicon transitions and edge couplers on TSMC's silicon photonics platform with CMOS-compatible process. Here we propose and demonstrate a low-loss high-efficiency thin-film lithium-niobate Mach–Zehnder modulator enabled by a novel ult alow-loss slow-light structure based on apodized gratings in cascade. Since the reduction in the transmission loss of optical fiber can contribute to such improvement by reducing the number of optical repeaters and extending transmission distances, there have been continuous R&D activities for lower transmission losses.
