Syrian High-Speed Fiber Optic Cable Maintenance
Syria's state owned communications company has announced that maintenance is underway to rehabilitate damage to a major offshore cables which provide internet inside the war-torn country, warning that, as a result, internet services could be negatively affected for a period of 10. The BARQ NET FTTP initiative represents Syria's comprehensive fiber-to-the-premises infrastructure deployment across all 14 governorates: Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, Hama, Tartus, Deir ez-Zor, Ar-Raqqah, Al-Hasakah, Daraa, Idlib, As-Suwayda, Quneitra, and Rif Dimashq. The project, described by the government as a cornerstone of its digital infrastructure. Syria, with its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of regional connectivity.
