AWS launches Fastnet, a 320+ Tbps subsea fiber optic system connecting Maryland (U. Built for AI and edge computing, Fastnet supports high-capacity, low-latency data flows critical for generative AI, ML, and. AWS Global Infrastructure spans 38 AWS Regions and 120 Availability Zones, all connected through multiple redundant pathways with built-in resiliency designed to meet this demand for reliable connectivity. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has revealed it builds and maintains its digital network "with failure in mind". Well, if hollow core fiber had the same loss characteristics as regular fiber, it could reach 47% farther and still deliver the same latency target, AWS Senior Principal Network Development Engineer Stephen Callaghan said in a presentation at re:Invent 2024.
