Height of the front shelf
Home / Height of the front shelf
The bottom edge of an upper shelf or cabinet is typically placed 18 to 22 inches above the finished countertop surface. This height allows enough vertical space for common small appliances, such as toasters or coffee makers, to operate comfortably beneath the shelf. The placement of shelving in a home is a delicate balance between maximizing storage capacity and ensuring the items remain easily accessible for daily use. Additionally, considerations like room dimensions, furniture placement, and accessibility all play a role in determining the perfect elevation. However, when we decide to mount shelves on the wall, we must carefully consider the height at which to place the shelves we have chosen. When we talk about interior design, we often focus on colors, textures, and furniture.
